The Oceanside Pier, first built in 1888, (and now in its sixth incarnation) is the longest wooden pier on the western United States coastline at 1,954 feet. The California Surf Museum is located in downtown Oceanside. Oceanside is home to some of the world's finest surfing, and holds competitions regularly, including the X Games on one occasion. Also, some of the nicest golf courses in the nation can be found in the Oceanside area. In addition, whale watching tours can be booked from the Oceanside Pier.
In the surrounding area of Oceanside, Sea World is in San Diego, as well as the world famous San Diego Zoo. Disneyland is in Anaheim, and LEGOLAND is in Carlsbad. Also, in the surrounding area, you can watch the San Diego Chargers NFL team, San Diego Padres MLB team, Anaheim Angels MLB team, Anaheim Ducks NHL team, Los Angeles Dodgers MLB team, Los Angeles Kings NHL team, Los Angeles Clippers NBA team, and Los Angeles Lakers NBA team.
