Oceanside Magazine

When you move to a new city, you're not only giving up your old friends and your old family doctor and your old job, but you're also giving up all you old connections to local news. Now that you're a brand new Oceanside, California resident, where will you find out about current events and local news and where to buy bamboo diapers? You could pick up a copy of the Oceanside Magazine. It'll be a great source of things to talk about at work with your new co-workers.

Oceanside Magazine is the production of the City of Oceanside. It exists for the purposes of informing residents about things that are going on in Oceanside and drawing their attention to new developments like a Bahco Tools factory or a housing development. As a city information vehicle, one of the things you'll find in the magazine is a directory of phone numbers you might need while living in Oceanside, like the anti-graffiti hotline or the department of motor vehicles.

Most of the material for the magazine comes from Oceanside's Parks and Recreation Department. They're the ones hosting events and making developments that the residents of Oceanside would be interested in taking advantage of. Most of them don't cost any gold bullion bars to attend, as they are put on by the city and sponsored by local businesses. Here are some of the things you might hear about in the magazine: reading programs at the local library, plays put on by local colleges and schools, CPR classes, film festivals, and clubs for such activities as sewing and computers.

There's also a special section in Oceanside Magazine for green news and green events that are happening in the city. "Green" is now even more of a buzzword than "search engine marketing." Canada's province of Nova Scotia and the state of California are leaders in the green movement. In the green section, you'll hear about things like Oceanside's recycling services, green contests and special events, and get tips on how to be more green by doing thinks like conserving water and re-using bottles.

It is the CityScape section of Oceanside Magazine that newbies to the area will be most interested in. You see quite a bit of the city from driving your septic truck around at work but the in-depth profiles on local businesses and community members will really give you a feel for your new home.
